Our Resources
Our Ingredients
We believe that nature holds the key to a better quality of life. That there is untapped power and intelligence in the natural resources that surround us.
We go directly to the source where nature is at its most powerful. By doing this we deliver nature in its most effective state, through unique ingredients that are at the heart of all our products.
Our high grade Manuka honey is supplied to us byourbeekeepers who meet stringent quality control measures. The Manuka honey used in our Medihoney products is sourced exclusively from our own medical grade beekeeping operation. We are replanting large areas of unprofitable land with manuka plants, to increase the honey yield.
Bees make propolis by gathering resin or sap from plants and combining it with enzymes. They use it to keep their hives free from infection. We mimic our clever bees by collecting propolis from our hives, using it as a key ingredient in many of our immune health products.
Our Olive Leaf Extract is made from fresh olive leaves, grown on our own unique olive grove in Queensland, Australia - the world’s largest. On-site extraction facilities allow the leaves to be harvested at dawn and extracted by noon ensuring maximum nutrients are retained in the final product.
Our newest generation of healthcare products goes directly to the heart of the humble broccoli sprout to unleash another powerful tale of the science of nature, offering consumers an additional way to ensure that they gain all the benefits of a healthy diet.

Quality comes first at Comvita
At Comvita, our number one priority is to provide you with high quality and effective natural healthcare solutions.

All Comvita products contain the purest of natural ingredients and are processed utilising leading-edge technology ensuring that nature's delicate balances are retained throughout production.

Our Manufacturing Plant
We are located in New Zealand's Bay of Plenty. Our factory, built in 1997, has been audited and approved by the Australian Therapeutic Goods Administration and complies with the world's most demanding and exacting quality standards.

Honey Supply

Drums supplied to Comvita hold 300 kilograms of honey. To produce this amount of honey, the hard working honey bees must visit 1.2 billion flowers!

There are a variety of honeys provided to Comvita (including Manuka, Kamahi and Rewarewa honeys) by specially selected Bee Keepers all over New Zealand.

Drum Warming System
Here you can see our drum warming system, which has 12 heaters and is capable of heating 12 drums of honey in one batch. The drums are gently warmed to soften the honey without destroying its natural goodness. This allows the honey to pass through a series of four filters, effectively straining any beeswax particles from the product. This process takes between 24 - 36 hours.

Honey Holding Vats

These are the holding vats, each storing up to 4000kg of honey. Each new batch of honey is stirred and mixed over a 24 hour period. This helps to slow down the natural crystalisation process, ensuring a consistent smooth creamy honey.

The honey now undergoes more quality checks before being released to the packing room.

Our Packing Room

The Packing Room is a hive of industry! The holding vats are emptied (taking between 8 - 12 hours) into various sized containers, then labeled, shrink-wrapped and packaged. The packaged honey is placed in a chilled area for at least 48 hours before being stored in the warehouse awaiting distribution.

Comvita sources more than honey from the bees. We have a range of healthcare products using Propolis, Bee Pollen and other natural ingredients, which are shown here being packed into containers. Once filled, the container is sealed, labelled and packed.

Our Warehouse

Our Warehouse, is located beside our factory. Products are stored here before being distributed world-wide. Our warehouse staff are always busy packing product for the markets.

Throughout all processes at Comvita, we maintain our commitment to excellence. We have used the highest quality ingredients and monitored quality and safety standards in all stages of factory processes.
