The natural properties of olive leaf extract are well documented, but as a culinary ingredient it is considerably less celebrated than olive oil, which is also derived from the olive tree and has become a true staple of the modern kitchen - thanks largely to its use in Mediterranean cooking. Nonetheless, as the use of olive leaf grows in popularity, we’re starting to see an increasing number of quick and healthy recipes that make it easy to incorporate this great ingredient into your everyday diet.
  1. Carrot, ginger, orange and olive leaf smoothie
    Adding Olive Leaf Extract to a super healthy smoothie adds a fortifying extra twist. This nutrient-packed smoothie recipe is a great way to get loads of great-tasting healthy goodness into one quick to prepare drink and the earthy flavours are prefect for this time of year.
    Simply bung fresh carrot juice (1 cup), a peeled orange, a handful of spinach and a small square of ginger into the blender for about 30 seconds. Then add a dash of Comvita Olive Leaf Extract (the quantity should be determined by the dosage instructions given on the bottle) and ice and blitz again.
  2. Spicy veg and olive leaf smoothie
    A smoothie that’s guaranteed to blast away the morning cobwebs! Kick off your day with this invigorating smoothie that combines a bumper portion of healthy goodness with a spicy hit. Knocking up this spicy smoothie is simply a case of bunging everything into your blender and giving it a thorough whizz. The recipe packs in plenty of ingredients though so pay attention… Blend 2 cups of baby spinach, a tomato, 1 cup of coconut water, 1 chopped carrot, 1 cucumber, 1 avocado, 1 peeled lime, 2 garlic cloves, ½ teaspoon of sea salt, a pinch of cayenne pepper.   3. Winter Smoothie
    Another delicious seasonal smoothie that makes inspired use of winter produce and shows just how sweet and tasty healthy ingredients like beetroot can be.
    Whizz together ½ bunch of kale, two small beetroots, a carrot, an apple and quarter of a peeled grapefruit until you have a juice-like consistency. Finish off with a dash of cayenne pepper and Comvita Olive Leaf Extract and enjoy!
  4. Super Healthy Veg Smoothie
    This one utilises just about every veggie super food we can think of, making for a supremely healthy shot of vitamins and nutrients that’s surprisingly tasty! Nonetheless the ingredients in this complex concoction are as much chosen for their health benefits as their flavour so feel free to omit anything that doesn’t take your fancy.
    Blend one small tomato, ¼ of a cucumber, one bell pepper, one jalapeno, ¼ of an onion, 2 cloves of garlic, 2 stalks of celery, 1 teaspoon of kelp, 2 big handfuls of spinach and 2 cups of water. Add Comvita Olive Leaf Extract, a teaspoon of turmeric and a handful of ice cubes and blitz again.
